Free Men of Alabama! TO ARMS!
Your country calls you!
Your state is invaded!
Your people are murdered!
Your hearths and your altars are polluted by the mercenaries of a cruel, demented and lawless tyrant! The blood of your noble friends and kinsmen, shed while defending your home, your rights and your sacred honor cries out from the ground under your feet
?Will our sacrifice be in vain??
Co. A

Lee Reconsidered
What if the South had not fought the North in a "stand up" fight? Chad Chancey writes an interesting article on this topic. Would the South have been better served allowing the North to invade and fighting behind men like Forrest, Mosby, Quantrill and Cleburne? In light of the history of the last 150 years, we have seen time and again an outmatched smaller nation defeating a much larger foe through guerilla warfare. Vietnam, Algeria, Spain vs. Napoleon, China, Iraq, Afghanistan vs. USSR, and the list goes on. He doesn't attack Lee as a person, just the idea that the South could "out empire" the North by fighting on THEIR terms. Click here to read about it.

Un-Reconstructed and Upcoming Events
UnReconstucted Band:
Our dear friends and our favorite Southern Band, UnReconstructed, have been nominated by the Southern Heritage Music Association in the following categories:
Group of the Year
Best new album (Buds of the Brier)
Best Vintage Album
and
Best Version of Dixie
Also their lead female singer, Heather Dempsey, has been nominated for Best Female Vocalist (Foggy Dew and Wild Mt Thyme on their new album)
I know that all of you will agree with me when I say that they deserve to win in every one of these categories. These folks have always supported us
in our re-enacting endeavors and other Southern heritage events. They have played for numerous educational programs and events without pay (including playing at
the Beauvoir event this past year in which the proceeds went to the restoration of the Jeff Davis home and library which was severely damaged in Hurricane Katrina.)
Let us all show our appreciation by taking a moment to go to the following site and vote for them! You can vote in all 5 categories each day until this Wednesday!
Here is the link: http://www.wdxb.net/index2.shtml
Reenacting events:
Tallasee was a blast this year. Wish all of you could have been there!
We have been asked to help with the Tannehill Christmas Candlelight tour this year 8-9 December. We will act as tour guides (in period dress) We will need to be there by 5:30 PM both nights and plan to stay until 10. We especailly need more help for Friday night. If you would like to participate please let me know soon!. Unreconstructed will be one of the acts and Maggie will have a scene also so this will be well worth attending!
Let's start thinking about events for next year. The 145th anniverery of the Battle of Shiloh is being planned for next March and is shaping up to be a large event.

Un-Reconstructed
I know most of you are familiar with the Un-Reconstucted Band. I Hope
all of you will go to the following site and vote for them!
And don't forget Heather Dempsey, their vocalist in the female vocalist
category!!!!!! Heather sang "Foggy Dew" and "Wild Mountian Thyme on their
latest album.
The group has been nominated in the group of the year, best new album,
best vintage album, and best version of Dixie categories.
These folks are the real deal as you well know. They have worked
tirelessly to promote our Southern heritage and to educate others through
their music (the most effective way, I think). They have preformed for
years without recompense at many school day and Sothern heritage events
(including the Beauvoir Fall muster recently, in which the proceeds went
to the restoration of Beauvoir)
Their good works aside they deserve to win every one of these categories
anyway and Heather does too! (And if you have ever heard them I know you
will agree)
You can vote every 24 hours from now till Nov. 15
